OUR MISSION: Committed to achievement for all New York City youth, Roads to Success promotes academic, personal and professional development through out-of-school-time programs built on a philosophy of self-discovery. We create and sustain an environment where young people find their identity, build their independence and practice generosity in their communities.

OUR VISION: Roads to Success is dedicated to helping young people discover the self-esteem, self-reliance and empathy necessary to become future leaders and driving forces of positive change. We are led by a passionate community of young educators'a lead-by-example staff who are dedicated that all of New York City's young people are given a fair and equitable chance to fulfill their dreams.

PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategy that enables our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are. 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: A Group Leader works with the staff and students to develop a positive community culture and ensure that our goals are being acknowledged in our programs. Group Leaders are expected to cultivate meaningful relationships and be positive role models for the future leaders they supervise.


  • Supervisor: Site Director
  • Supervises: School Age Students
  • Max Hours: 16.5 per week
  • Days: 5 per week, Monday-Friday
  • Compensation: $15 per hour


  • Actively engage during activities with students.
  • Provide homework assistance during homework time.
  • Supervise during snack time and enforce Zero Impact.
  • Supervise activities to ensure physical and emotional safety.
  • Provide hands on assistance when Instructors are leading their lesson.
  • Lead recreational group games and rallies or create lesson plans for academic activities.
  • Encourage a positive environment promoting mutual support and the desire to learn and grow.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested by the Site Director.


  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work in our programs.
  • Must have a GED or High School Diploma. College credits are a plus.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working in school age programs.
  • Have strong verbal communication skills to communicate professionally.
  • The ability to work in a team and be a team player with your staff members.
  • Be able to problem solve, excel with minimal supervision, and work under pressure.
  • Must be professional, punctual, and adapt to changes that may occur during program.
  • Be willing to learn and implement new strategies and receive guidance from the Site Director.
